Hi, I’m Annika — I teach from my home in Middleton in a calm, friendly environment.

Hi, I’m Annika
I created The Piano Den for you

I’m a music degree graduate and I created The Piano Den because I believe learning piano should feel calm, personal, and genuinely enjoyable — not stressful or rigid. My lessons are warm, relaxed, and built entirely around you. Beginners are especially welcome — zero experience needed, I promise.

Most piano lessons follow a rigid structure.
Here, everything is shaped around you — your pace, your goals, your music.

"I want my den to feel like a proper little escape — somewhere you can relax, make mistakes, and gradually make music ♫"

This might be exactly what you’re looking for

You’re a complete beginner

Never touched a piano before? Perfect. I love working with people who are starting from scratch — there’s no judgement here, just encouragement.

You’ve played before and want to restart

Life gets in the way. Whether it’s been months or decades, I’ll meet you exactly where you are and we’ll take it from there.

You want to play music you actually enjoy

Classical, pop, film scores, jazz — we go at your pace and learn the music you love. No rigid syllabus unless that’s what you want.

You prefer a relaxed, non-pressured approach

My studio is deliberately small and personal. I keep my schedule limited so every student gets real attention. No factory lessons here.

Meet the helpers 🐾

My studio comes with a full supporting cast 😉 Bisky and Leo make it the warmest space in Middleton. They stay out of lessons — but a pre-lesson cuddle is absolutely on the table.

Allergy note: The animals have been in the piano room previously. Please mention any allergies when booking.

Every lesson comes with this

A personalised lesson plan

No two students get the same lesson. Your plan is built around your goals, your level, and the music you love.

Flexible learning style

Theory, technique, songs — whatever the right balance is for you. I adjust every session as we go.

Music you actually enjoy

Classical, pop, film scores, jazz — we learn the music that motivates you, not what’s on a standard curriculum.

Clear, steady progress

You’ll notice real improvement. I keep things achievable and celebrate every win, however small.

Simple, transparent pricing

Most students start with the £15 first lesson, then choose what feels right. No pressure either way.

🎵 Most students start with the £15 first lesson, then settle into a bundle that works for them.

I keep my schedule small to stay personal — a few slots available each week. Worth booking sooner rather than later.
For reference: private piano lessons in Manchester typically cost £25–£45/hr (Superprof & First Tutors, 2025). My rates are intentionally accessible.

A few house rules

Payment

Cancellations

Cancel 24h+ ahead and no charge. Under 24h, the lesson fee applies with your next payment. Life happens — just let me know as soon as you can.

Materials

Students source their own sheet music, books, and notebooks. I’ll tell you exactly what to get when you start — nothing expensive, nothing complicated.

Things people usually ask 😊

Here are the questions I get asked most often. Didn’t find yours? Just drop me a message!

No — not straight away! A basic keyboard is absolutely fine when you’re starting out. I’ll advise you on what to get as you progress. If you’re unsure, ask me and I’ll point you in the right direction for your budget.
I teach children from age 6 upwards. At that age lessons are short, fun and game-based — there’s no pressure, just encouragement. If your child is younger and showing real interest, feel free to ask — every child is different!
Absolutely — adults are very welcome! In fact, adult beginners are some of my favourite students. You tend to be more motivated and self-aware. I’ll go at your pace, with no judgement whatsoever. It’s genuinely never too late.
Your first lesson is £15 — a low-pressure way to try it out and see if we click. After that, lessons are £20 per session (30 minutes). Block bookings are available to secure a regular slot. For context, private piano lessons in Manchester average £26–35/hr — I keep my rates accessible on purpose.
I teach from my home studio in Middleton, Manchester (M24 2WX). It’s a cosy, relaxed space — nothing like a formal music school. I’ll share the exact address once you’re booked in. I currently teach in-person only.
Whatever you love! Classical, pop, film scores, jazz, musical theatre — I’m flexible. I believe you learn fastest when you’re playing music you actually want to play. Grades (ABRSM/Trinity) are available if that’s your goal, but completely optional.
Students source their own materials, but I’ll tell you exactly what to get — nothing expensive, and nothing until you actually need it. We’ll chat about this in your first lesson once I know more about your goals and level.
Life happens — I get it! Cancel 24 hours or more in advance and there’s no charge. Under 24 hours, the lesson fee applies as I’m unlikely to fill that slot. Just let me know as soon as you can and we’ll sort it out.
Yes — fully DBS checked and insured. I take safeguarding seriously, especially for younger students. You can ask to see my certificate at any time. I’m also a music degree graduate so you’re in safe, qualified hands!
Ha! Yes — Bisky and Leo live here, so there is fur about even when they’re not in the lesson room. If you have a cat allergy, please let me know when you get in touch and we’ll have a chat about how to manage it. Your comfort matters!

Still got a question? 😊   WhatsApp me or send an email — I’m always happy to chat.

You don’t need to be ‘good’ to start.
